Every year, ink and toner cartridges end up in landfills and incinerators due to millions of people and companies throwing them in garbage containers.
Recycling reduces solid waste, is environmentally beneficial, can be profitable, and is actually very easy to do. Most cartridges can be refurbished, refilled and resold up to six times before they are used up, and they produce the same quality as the new cartridges.
3 Ways to Dispose of Cartridges
- Donate them to charity. There are disposal boxes usually placed in libraries, schools, and sometimes churches, that will accept empty cartridges and benefit from your donation. You can easily search online for your local disposal boxes by typing in “empty cartridges for charity”.
- Send them back to the store. Many stores will accept your empty cartridges because they fully believe in the benefits of recycling. Sometimes they will even offer you store credit, cash or rewards for your cartridges.
- Sell your cartridges for cash. Get on the internet and search out organizations that will exchange for cash. Many offer prepaid shipping or pickup, and/or pay up to $4 for each cartridge. Just make sure to check the list of the cartridges they accept and send them in.
Don’t let cartridges clog up our landfills. Look into donating, sending them back to stores, or selling them. Recycling is always the better and more environmentally-friendly option.
